After years of anticipation, the new South Side Marina is proud to announce it’s opening for the 2015 boating season. Developer Max Marina has been working feverishly over the last few months to finalize designs for the marina and related buildings. At the Pittsburgh Boat Show, they publicized the ground breaking for the new facility planned for early March and they are on schedule to be open this spring.
Max Marina has put a great deal of thought into the overall design of the facility. According to plans, marina leaseholders will have a dedicated gated parking lot adjacent to the marina entrance. The building at the marina entrance will feature an elevator to ease access to the docks.

Once dockers reach the docks, another building containing marina offices, a small ships store, rest room and shower facilities will be on a floating dock at the bottom of the gangway. The docks, supplied by Merco Marine, feature composite decking and state-of-the-art power pedestals among other great features.
The new facility will sit down river from the South Shore Riverfront Park wharf along the banks of Monongahela River at roughly the 2.7 MM. Land access will be via the South Side Works entertainment and retail complex. Dockers will have virtually unlimited choices for shopping, dining and nightlife right at the marina’s front door.
South Side Marina is owned by the same company that owns and operates Fox Chapel Marine, the largest marina and dealership in the region. For more information about leasing for 2015 season, check out their website.
