    Default 18 Mile Island Chute

Can anyone advise if the 18 Mile Island chute is clear and navigable?

    Thanks

I was up there a few weeks ago and it certainly was. There was the usual crop of stick-ups every so often, and I have no idea why people ski back there with all those things right at the surface.

Also, it's been my experience that on holiday weekends it's not uncommon for a group of boaters to raft across the chute. Re-defines "navigable."

Thanks Captain Eric. I hope to go up there in the next week or so.

Went up there twice in the past 3 days, and it is confirmed navigable :)

My daughter was idling along down the center, asking if we were more or less than 100 feet from the shore on either side. I suggested we should go slow in case of fisherman or other boats along the banks, not to mention we enjoy the view going slow back there. It wasn't a minute later some dude goes by us on plane about 30' away. Sigh, holiday weekends.

They can see the dangers, and choose to do it anyway.

I have no sympathy for anyone who gets hurt, or sinks their boat, being stupid, rude, and selfish.

    But that's just me.
