Kentucky River Update

Wednesday, June 3, 2015

You may recall that we ran a special on the KY river’s locks opening and the June 26th special event in Frankfort.  In case you missed it, we’ll re-post the link here: LINK

To keep you updated, I’ve been told that people have already been making the trip up and down the Kentucky River to Frankfort and back.  Frankfort boaters have also made at least one group run to Madison, and they’re looking forward to a trip to Louisville in the future.

The locks are reported to be working well, and Lock #1 will open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26th to give boaters from Louisville an extra two hours to make their trip to the big event in Frankfort.  Gasoline at the Frankfort Boat Club is discounted 5% for all Ohio River Boaters and the Plaza Hotel has put together a package price of $69 a night for the weekend of June 26-27.

Also in Frankfort, the town is installing 100 more feet of free dock space in front of the Plaza Hotel.  That will make for a total of 200’, and the project should be completed by next week.  You can check out visitfrankfort.com , frankfortboatclub.com and kra.ky.gov for additional information concerning boating travels to Frankfort this summer.
